Athena Nilssen brings a unique depth of experience and insight to her workers’ compensation practice, shaped by a diverse career path and a passion for problem solving. Athena began her legal journey as a legal assistant, a role that ultimately inspired her to pursue law school at the age of 31. Her early exposure to workers’ compensation defense work prior to law school gave her a strong foundation and a lasting interest in the field.

After completing law school, Athena practiced civil litigation, focusing on elder abuse cases. That experience deepened her appreciation for the fast-paced, practical nature of workers’ compensation law, where she thrives on making court appearances and crafting efficient litigation strategies without the procedural delays common in civil litigation.

Athena is passionate about delivering excellent service through thoughtful strategy, clear communication, and effective resolution of claims. Her wide-ranging job experience prior to law school gives her valuable perspective of different workplaces, an insight that informs her approach to every case she handles.

Originally from Kern County, Athena is an accomplished creative writer. Outside of her legal career, she continues to pursue writing projects alongside her legal practice.
