Julie Tran Carbonara, Partner

The practice of law was a natural fit for Julie Tran Carbonara, starting young as captain of her high school debate team. After deciding medical school wasn’t right for her, and with some sage advice from her mother, she took on law school and thrived. In her career, she spent a short stint in general liability before switching to Workers’ Comp. She settled her first case at her first deposition and never looked back. A natural leader, Julie worked her way to eventually owning her own firm in 2017, Landsford & Carbona, later becoming Carbonara Law. After 5 years on her own, Julie joins the KHL team on December 1, 2022. She is a well-known figure in the Workers’ Comp community, participating in educational events and conferences throughout the state on a regular basis. She brings with her a wealth of experience and satisfied clients. We are so happy at KHL to welcome Julie to the firm.

A Workers’ Compensation veteran of over a decade, Julie is dedicated to her clients, having worked with most of them continuously throughout her career.  She considers them family. When it comes to defending her clients, she takes inspiration from her parents, who ran a small business. She learned firsthand the effect that fraudulent claims can have on businesses and strives to protect them. Julie is passionate about every case, but never loses sight of the bigger picture. She uses her Civil experience and leaves her feelings at the door and focuses on cost-effective representation and the swift resolution of each case.

An Angelino through and through, Julie was born in Los Angeles’ Chinatown and has lived in Southern California her entire life. She currently resides in Long Beach, citing the diversity and friendly people as the highlights of the area. In her free time, she likes to cook and bake, as well as practice yoga and Muay Thai.

Julie really enjoys the “game” of Worker’s Compensation. How we play the game, determines a lot in Workers Compensation, and Julie loves to win.
